Mango and Red Onion Salad
Whether you’re looking for a yummy snack or a quick way to re-energize, this mango and red onion salad will do the trick for you! It’s healthy and perfect for anyone to enjoy!
One drawback to this salad recipe is that with all the onions it is more suitable for adults. However, you can omit the onions and cilantro and even the lime juice too, and just make it with the mango, honey and a dash of salt.
With that said, if you can get your hands on a ripe and juicy mango, you don’t even need the honey!
The Ingredients
Mango. Try for a mango with bright red and orange colors. These mangos are my favorite go-to and taste the best in my opinion. Also, in terms of ripeness, the mango should be soft to touch, but not too soft.
Onion. When it comes to raw salads, I prefer red onions. You could also try this with agree onion too if you like.
Cilantro. Normally I eat the stem and all. But for this recipe, I like to use only the leaves. I don’t cut them, but you certainly can.
Lime. Use lime or lemon. Lately, I prefer lime because it goes really well with the cilantro.
Honey. Omit the honey if you’re on a special diet, and substitute with your favorite sweetener. Another option is to omit the sweetener altogether!
Salt. Since we put in honey, and since the mango is sweet to begin with, a dash or two of sea salt help to bring out even more of the sweetness!Â
Add Some Crunch. For some crunch add some toasted almonds, which you can buy sliced and then toast them yourself. How to Toast Almonds.
