Peppermint Essential Oil Mouthwash

June 2, 2020 · Rhelena · Leave a Comment

This peppermint essential oil mouthwash is made with all natural ingredients to clean and refresh your mouth throughout the day as needed. It tastes great, and the freshness last for hours!

It looks a bit murky, but it’s just the baking soda and sea salt.

Not only is this all natural, but you can add vitamin and mineral drops to help strengthen your teeth.

With that said, even though it’s homemade with natural ingredients, this mouthwash is not intended for swallowing. Also, it may not be for everyone as some people may experience sensitivities to essential oils. Start with a small amount if you’re not sure.

I’ve added some mineral drops to this mouthwash. It seems kind of senseless since it’s all going to go down the sink after use. However, your mouth is absorbent and if you do a thorough rinse some of the goodies may get absorbed. And who knows, some of them might even stay behind to continue to contribute to an alkaline environment in your mouth, long after the rinse.

You can get these oils in the Young Living Premium Starter Kit.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 10 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 10 drops trace minerals

Other:

  • 1 500ml glass jar or bottle with lid. (I used an empty olive jar)

Instructions

  • Measure all ingredients into a glass jar or bottle.
  • Shake before using.
  • Rinse your mouth for about 30 seconds and discard. Do not swallow.

Notes

If the taste of baking soda is too strong, try it with half a tablespoon and work your way up.
Try mixing other oils including tea tree, spearmint, eucalyptus, wintergreen and clove.
Whatever oils you add, try to keep it to about 4-5 drops per 1 cup of water.

Only stick with therapeutic grade oils. They are generally extracted without chemicals and considered to be safer to use. Plus, they have a much more natural aroma than anything sold in department stores.

Young Living specializes in therapeutic grade oils that you might want to check out. You can find more about Young Living here. You can purchase your oils at my YL store. If you sign up for an account under me, please also join my Facebook group here to learn more about these oils.
