Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe

This homemade taco seasoning recipe is the perfect seasoning blend to go with a variety of meats from beef to chicken and pork. You can also use this on beans and lentils and as well as in soups and in salads.

It’s not only quick and easy to make this, but it can save a lot of time in the kitchen as you’re not always reaching for individual spices. The quantity is just enough to fit into an average spice jar, but you can easily double the recipe if you have bigger jars.

Another bonus is that it is a great alternative to store-bought taco seasonings because you know there are no unnatural ingredients in this one. And the taste is just as great! Two tablespoons of this should be about the right amount to replace almost any packet.

This is a mild and kid-friendly seasoning. If you prefer something a bit more spicy, simply add more cayenne pepper or some red pepper flakes to the mix.

Another thing I should mention is that store bought packets often contain cornstarch, which is a thickening agent that requires water to make a thick sauce. There are no thickening agents in this taco seasoning, thus eliminating the need to add additional water. BUT, if you prefer to have a thickening agent, feel free to add some here, or at the stove while you’re cooking. If you don’t like the idea of using cornstarch, arrowroot powder is a healthier alternative.

This homemade seasoning recipe will stay good as long as it does not surpass the date on the original packaging.
