My Bucket Hat
Here is my first copy of a bucket hat. The pattern is an original design from Craftybegonia and can be found for free at this link: Bi-Colored Bucket Hat
And before I go on, I just want to let you know that my image does not do the hat justice. I made it in black and my camera does not pick the color up too well. Also, it looks much more stylish when worn than when propped up as pictured.
So with that said, the original hat in the pattern is made with two colors, however, I chose to make mine in a solid black. Also, the pattern calls for a button to close off the top, but I chose to make a pompom for my first hat. For my next hat I’ll probably use a button – I went through my bag of buttons and actually found some that would look great on it.
The pattern calls for an H-5.00MM hook, but I used a 4.5MM and it came out to be the perfect size for my small head. Anyhow, I enjoy the hat so much, that I’ll be making several more for the cold winter season.
What I liked most about crocheting the pattern is that it was easy to follow and allowed for mindless crochet. My mind isn’t always that strong, so patterns such as this one are very therapeutic and relaxing for the mind.
