My given name is Helena. I mostly go by Helen, but you can call me Rhelena. It’s my last initial placed in front of my given name and pronounced with an R instead of an H. It is the name I want to associate with all my crochet patterns and blogs. My new name came as a result of me not wanting to share my personal information online when I first came on the scene back in 2007.
Crocheting is one of my favorite things to do. It has kept me calm through many storms in life and I hope that it will be apart of my life for as long as I live. I love to design crochet patterns, and you can find them at my main website: CrochetN’Crafts.
The reason for starting this blog was because I wanted a place to share more of myself, who I am and what I crochet besides my own patterns. That way those who are interested only in patterns won’t be bored with my ramblings.
That’s not to say that I won’t be publishing any patterns here, but I’m hoping that the majority of patterns published here will be patterns that I made specifically to fit me. I’m very petite and always have to modify all crochet patterns in order for them to fit me. And I’m sure that I’m not the only one with this problem, so hopefully others will benefit from these patterns as well.
Some of my favorite yarns are Patons Canadiana and a size 3 crochet Thread. I also love Red Heart Luster Sheen, Red Heart Soft Touch and Red Heart Shimmer. Pricewise, I enjoy using Red Heart Comfort when it is for something where drape doesn’t matter much.
Caron Simply Soft is another excellent yarn. I’ve only worked on one ball of that so far and totally am in love with it. It will definitely be a yarn that I’ll be using more often provided that I can get my hands on it. Never saw it in the stores until recently.
