Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? And if so, are you able to stick with them? As for me, I love making them, but I’m never able to stick with them. At the same time, I think I did pretty good last year. I was amazed at how well I did after I had a few breakthroughs in my health and finally got onto the winning side of life. So hopefully I can do the same again in 2014…and perhaps do even better. 🙂
I have many personal goals for myself as well as many crochet and business goals that I would like to achieve. And here are some of my new years resolutions or goals – whatever you like to call it:
Learn to Read and Create Crochet Charts. Lately I have had many of my facebook fans ask for my patterns to be made available in Spanish. I don’t know Spanish, but I’m thinking if I chart my patterns then it might be enough. I will start working on this once I can relax a bit more and have more time on my hands. Until then I will focus on designing and publishing new patterns.
Put All Patterns into PDFs. For some reason the “Print Friendly” is not working for everyone. I’ve created a separate CSS file for printing, but it’s not accommodating everyone either. So Printable PDFs is the way to go in order for users to have a good experience. Again, this will happen once I have more time, but I’m hoping to get this started soon.
Check Facebook Comments Daily. For some reason Facebook does not notify me when new comments are made on my website. I’m not sure how to fix that. I keep forgetting to check them, but I’m hoping to keep up in a more timely manner from now on.
Blog More Often. This was one of my goals last year and I failed miserably! Hopefully this year will be better. At least one post per week is my goal. Topics will include lessons that I have learned in crochet design as well as the business side of crochet and running a website, social media tips and tricks, inspirational posts as well as what I’m working on crochetwise. I’m also planning on continuing with Thank You Thursdays as there are so many crochet friends that I need to thank!
Be More Social. As my health improves I’m hoping to be more social including online. I’m hoping to get lots more fans and followers at online social sites like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and StumbleUpon. I’m also hoping to be more active on Google+ and LinkedIn.
Gain 100,000 Facebook Followers. As the saying goes, when you dream, dream BIG. I’m dreaming big so we’ll see what happens.
Crochet Directories. One of my goals for 2013 was to make Crochet Pattern Bonanza one of the top directories online, but I failed in that area. I’m not feeling too badly about it though as it has picked up quite nicely. I just need to continue now to work on it in order to make it worthwhile for others to continue submitting their patterns.
Blogging at Hubpages. After I had a pattern rejected by Hubpages I spent a lot of time debating whether or not I wanted to continue publishing there. But I finally decided that it’s good for backlinks and it might help my other sites rank higher in search engines. So I’m hoping to start publishing more regularly again. Plus they allow you to earn a few dollars here and there.
The pattern that was rejected was this seed stitch purse. Reason for rejection was because they believed it had been copied from several pages over at CrochetN’Crafts. 🙂 What can I say, I have a way of writing and I tend to repeat myself when it comes to writing my patterns even though the designs are different. No biggy, I just won’t publish many patterns there then … it’ll be just links … if that’s what they’d rather have.
Get Healthy. Last but not least, I need to continue to eat healthy so my health can continue to improve.
Not sure how many of those goals I will achieve but I’m going to give it my best shot. Wish me luck 🙂
