The reason for starting this blog is because I wanted to have a place where I could share my crochet adventures. Although I have a crochet pattern website, I wanted to have something more personal and social, like a blog.
I tried Blogger, but then found out how easy it was to set up WordPress, and so I decided to go with it instead.
This will be a personal blog where I’ll be sharing some of my personal experiences with crocheting and the ups and downs of starting an online crochet business. I’ll be posting my works in progress, future patterns on the way, as well reviews and links to some of my favorite online crochet patterns.
Also, I’m hoping to use this blog to somewhat promote my other websites.
Even though it has been four years that I have been at it, I’m still far away from succeeding with my crochet pattern site. Currently I’m averaging about $300 a month with Google Adsense. Many people would have given up by now, but I like to keep a positive outlook on it. Afterall, it is $300 more than what I made four years ago, and if I stick with it, eventually I’ll succeed. And best of all, I get to do what I love!
To make ends meet, I just sold my three bedroom condo and down-sized into a small apartment. It was either that or get a full-time job. And getting a job at this point was not an option due to health reasons. To me, selling the condo was a small sacrifice because it has allowed me to continue to do the things that I enjoy.
Selling the condo also enabled me to quit my freelancing jobs, which will give me even more time to crochet and do the things that I really enjoy. So you see, there is always a bright side to everything even in the toughest of times.
In a way it feels as though I have lost everything that I ever worked for. But on the other hand, I feel as though I have lost nothing of true value, and still have everything to gain. As the saying goes… ‘Sometimes you have to lose in order to win’, and this is so true.
You can check out my free patterns over at CrochetN’Crafts. I also blog over at Hubpages, and you can join me there if you like. It is free to sign up, and the beauty with Hubpages, is that you can earn a small amount of money with them as well. I personally love platform because it allows me to build back links to my main site at the same time.
