Day 9 – Blog Updates and Topics
In 2013 I will post ___ days a week. I’ll participate in __________ linkys and ________ challenges. Topics I will write about are _______.
I think I have already covered these goals in my earlier posts, but I think Sara, the host of this challenge, did this on purpose so that these goals will stick in our minds. It’s not just a blogging challenge, but it is also designed to help us succeed in the next year. Thank you Sara.
Anyhow, this year I am hoping to make at least one post on this blog per week, 1-2 posts on my free pattern site as well as do patterns for guest blogging on other sites.
The topics that I will cover are mainly for free crochet patterns. I’m hoping to design more bags, hats, cowls, afghan squares, and I’ll definitely need some new tops and headbands for the summer. I also want to write about my favorite yarns and crochet tutorials. Topics for this blog will mainly be about the crochet projects that I complete, my crochet goals, what’s going on in my crochet life, accomplishments and so on.
As for linkys and other challenges, I really have not given this any thought. But if you know where I could participate let me know and I’ll be happy to join up.
With that said, I finally contacted the owner of crochetatplay over the weekend to thank her for linking to me. She said she is more than happy to do so, and will link to my future patterns as well. So thank you very much!
Another invitation came about a month ago from The Yarn Box. It’s another free crochet pattern directory, and I hope to sign up soon or at least before the month is over.
And I’m still working on last years goals, which are to become more active on ravelry, craftsy, crochetme and social media sites. And another great place to hang out is in a Yahoo Group owned by one of my crochet friends. If you are interested, you can join her group at her website: Barb’s Free Crochet Patterns.
Once again, I think I may have bitten off way more than I chew, but I’m going to make it a fun journey and do what I can.
My readers like _________ posts the best. Knowing this I will ________ and ________ in 2013.
Not sure what my readers like best, but my hooded scarves seem to be doing the best in the search engines. This is probably because there is hardly any competition for them. I have also been getting good feedback from my bags, hats, scarves and baby items. So those will be my focus over the next year.
I just discovered over the last few weeks that Facebook is a good place to find out if your patterns are hot or not. So I will definitely be using that as a tool.
Develop a call to action post or post script. Let your readers know what you want them to do.
Hmm, I’m not sure how I can apply this one because I’m not really selling anything. I do have my sign-up form and social media links on each webpage, but not sure if I should do more. When I first started the site I was thinking of doing a popup window for the newsletter sign-up, but since I’m annoyed by those things, I decided against it. Marketing wise, it is probably a good way to get new readers, but I’m not sure about it at this time.
