Day 12 Writing Prompt:
Today you will be making a guest blog schedule and scheduling guest bloggers. Write a post soliciting guest bloggers. Be specific in what you want.
Before Christmas last year I made the decision to host guest bloggers on my site, but I still have my first guest to make a post. I really haven’t put the word out yet, but after reading Sara’s article on it, I will re-write the info page and get the word out. I also like the idea of adding a form, and if I can figure it out I will add one of those as well. All that should really help me out.
With that said, if you are interested in making a guest post, let me know and I would be happy to have you. I’m open to anything related to crocheting or other types of crafting.
Also, if you have a blog and are open to guest bloggers, I would love to be a guest on your blog. Right now, I’m thinking of designing free patterns for guest posting. I have a great team of pattern testers who are always helpful in catching my mistakes. I could also do an article, but I’d almost rather just do a pattern. Let me know what you prefer if you are interested and I’d be happy to work with you.
Day 13 Writing Prompt:
I want to make _____ per month on my blog this year. In order to accomplish this goal I will need to do _________, ____, and _____.
I want to make at least 1200-1500 a month on my website by the end of this year. This is not enough for a comfortable lifestyle, but it would be enough to pay my bills. So that is all that I’m aiming for at this time.
In order to accomplish this goal, I need to quadruple my traffic, my followers and my newsletter subscribers.
And today I got accepted by Project Wonderful, so I am hoping to earn some money with that as well.
Day 14Writing Prompt:
Meeting the goals of Crochet business blog include the following tangible results: _________ page views per month, _____ new RSS subscribers per month, __________ Hooking for Cash sales per month, _______ new newsletter subscribers per month, and _______ quality comments per month.
Today is a big one, but a really good and helpful one. I have never actually broken things down like this before, but I can see how it will really help me to achieve success. Breaking it down will help me to focus on the goals each day instead of facing one giant goal for the end of the year.
The numbers look very discouraging right now, but I will put them out there regardless. Basically, I need to quadruple my income in order to make a living with crocheting by the end of the year.
In order for me to quadruple my income, I basically I need to quadruple my traffic coming to my site. I can do this by creating more content, getting more newsletter subscribers and more followers on social media sites, as well as by building more backlinks to my site.
Here is the math:
Backlinks to CrochetN’Crafts: 18,544. Times that by 4 and you get 74,176. So I still need another 55,632 backlinks. That means I need to build 152 backlinks in a day. This is not possible for me to do, but if I create quality patterns and get the word out, then others will talk about them online. As I’ve already mentioned before, I have a list of sites that I can join where I can post my links.
But then again, I won’t need this many links because once Google sees that I’m publishing regularly again, it will give me an automatic boost.
Twitter Followers: 220 x 4 = 880. So I still need 660 twitter followers. Divide that by 365 and I need to get 2 followers a day in order to meet that goal. Not sure how to achieve that except by being more active on it.
Facebook Followers: 270 x = 1080. I still need 810. Divide that by 365 and I need to get 2.5 new followers a day. Again, more activity will help me to achieve that.
Newsletter Subscribers: 1500, which means I will need to have about 6,000 by the end of the year. That comes out to 12 new subscribers every day. If I market till the cows come home, then I can do this. 🙂
Total Pageviews on CrochetN’Crafts: 113,383 x 4 = 453,532. I can’t focus on this number alone, so I will focus on the above and it will happen automatically. Another thing I could do is optimize the website so that my visitors stay on the site longer.
As for this blog, I’m just going to focus on adding content for now, and the rest will follow.
I will add these numbers to a spreadsheet and keep track of my daily progress as Sarah suggested.
These goals may seem outrages, but they are not impossible to achieve. With the right mind-set, good health and lots of hard work, it can be done. In a way I don’t expect to achieve all these goals by the end of the year, but they are what I want to achieve in the long run…and it would be a super bonus if I could make it happen sooner than later. 🙂
And I’m all caught up now on this challenge, well almost…I still have to revise my guest blogging page and put together the spreadsheet for keeping track of my success. But hopefully from now on I’ll be able to make daily entries.
