The prompt for day 3 was: “My business objectives for 2013 are:”, but I think I might have already answered it in the previous post. So I’m just going to move forward to day 4.
What’s important to you as a business owner, ethically, philosophically?
I’m not sure how to answer this one, but I’ll try and throw something out there:
One of the things that has kept me going in all this is my ability to think positive even in tough times. I’ve learned that when you think positive, you not only get better results, but your failures do not seem so overwhelming. All failures are there to teach us a lesson, and if we learn from them, then we can move forward. At the same time, all the positive thinking in the world will not result in success, so you have to be willing to do the work that comes with owning your own business. You have to be willing to work long hours without pay in order to set yourself up for residual income.
Another thing that I have learned is that you can’t do it alone. At least not if you want to succeed. There is just too much competition and trying to do it alone won’t get you very far. Even if you have to team up with your competition, it is better than if you do it alone. It may sound strange, but it is true in many cases. I own a free pattern site as well as two free pattern directories. There are many other directories online, and I have no problem linking to them if they are linking to my patterns as well. So in the end, even though we are competitors, we can still work together and help each other out.
